Shielded 2-Way Center Channel Speaker

Your RCA PRO-LS200 Shielded 2-Way Center Channel Speaker is designed around two shielded 3 ??? 5-inch woofers and a1/2-inch polycarbonate ferrofluid cooled tweeter. The compact two-way speaker comes with an easy-to-attach stand, so you can place it directly on your TV???s cabinet top, or directly above or below the TV on an entertainment unit shelf. The speaker can handle up to 100 watts RMS/200 watts maximum, and is compatible with most Dolby Pro Logic??? and Dolby Digital??? receivers.

The PRO-LS200 is specifically designed for use with the PRO-LS100 Mini Home Theater Satellite Speakers as part of a complete Home Theater speaker system. The LS200 is timbre-matched with the satellite speakers for a seamless transition when sound moves from speaker to speaker. (You can also use the LS200 as a front or rear satellite speaker.)

When the LS100s and the LS200 are used with a subwoofer, the result is a dynamic sound experience, ranging from 42 Hz to 20 kHz.

Note: You need speaker wire (not supplied) to connect your speaker (see ???Connecting the Speaker to an Amplifier/ Receiver??? on Page 2).

Speaker Placement

Where and how you position speakers has a great effect on the overall sound of your surround sound system.

The PRO-LS200 projects sound in the direction it is facing. Once you mount the speaker, adjust the stand so the speaker faces your viewing location. (For example, if the speaker is above ear level, aim the speaker down to where you plan to be sitting, so the sound hits you directly.)

Cautions:

???Place speakers away from heat sources such as radiators, stoves, or other appliances.

???To prevent the cabinets from warping or discoloring, do not place speakers where they are exposed to direct sunlight or excessive humidity.

???Do not place speakers where they might be knocked over or exposed to falling objects.

Center-Channel Speaker

The center channel output contains the majority of the dialogue and sound that comes from on-screen action. Therefore, you should place the center-channel speaker as close as possible to the television, either just above or below the screen. Place the front edge of the center- channel speaker grille flush with the edge of the television.

Note: The center-channel speaker is magnetically shielded to prevent interference with your television???s picture when used on the supplied stand.

Attaching the Speaker Stand

Thread the supplied thumbscrew through the hole in the bracket and into the screw hole in the back of the speaker (make sure the notches in the bracket face inward, toward the speaker). Do not tighten it.

Adjust by rotating the stand until the speaker is at the desired angle. Tighten the thumbscrew securely (make sure the notches on the stand lock into the notches on the cabinet for a secure fit).

Attaching the Anti-Slip Pads

The speaker is supplied with a set of four anti-slip pads for the bottom of your speaker. Push out each pre-cut circle from the rubber square. Peel off the adhesive backing. Then attach the pads to the corners of the speaker.

Connecting the Speaker to an Amplifier/Receiver

Cautions:

???Do not exceed the speaker???s maximum power rating.

???To avoid damage to the speaker or amplifier/receiver, turn off the amplifier/receiver before making the connections.

???Use 18-gauge speaker wire for distances up to 50 feet. For greater distances, use 16-gauge wire. Your local RadioShack store has a wide selection of speaker wire.

???We recommend you use color-coded or marked wire to help you correctly connect the wire. Color-coded wires have a stripe running down one side of the conductors. Marked wires have ridges along one side of the conductors.

Note: For the best overall performance, connect your speaker so it is in phase positive to positive (+ to +) and negative to negative (??? to ???).

1.With the speaker in its approximate location, measure the distance to the amplifier and route the wire from the speaker to the amplifier.

2.Separate the wire conductors for a length of about 2 inches, then remove about 1/2 inch of insulation from the wire???s ends using a wire stripper.

4.Press the speaker???s red positive (+) terminal tab and insert the other bare wire end into the opening. Then release the tab.

5.Connect the other end of the wire from the speaker???s black terminal to the amplifier???s negative center (???) terminal, and the wire from the speaker???s red terminal to

theamplifier???s positive (+) center terminal.
