Caption Mode

(1)Closed Caption Characters can be displayed on the TV screen only when the received broad- cast signal contains Caption Signals.

(2)Paint-on mode: Displays input characters on the screen immediately.

Pop-on mode: Once characters are stored in memory, they are displayed all at once.

Roll-up mode: Displays the characters continuously by scrolling (max. 4 lines)

Note: If CAPTION C1 or C2 is selected but a Closed Caption signal is not included, characters will not be displayed.

Notes:

(1)When your TV receives a special effects playback signal (i.e., Search, Slow, Still) from a VCR???s video output channel (CH3 or CH4), your TV may not display the correct caption or text.

Ventilation-Slots and openings in the cabinet and the back or bottom are provided for ventilation and to ensure reliable operation of the TV and to protect it from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered. 11. Grounding or Polarization-This TV is equipped with a polarized alternating-current line plug(a plug having one blade wider than the other). This plug will fit into the power outlet only one way. 14.Lightning-For added protection for this TV receiver during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the TV due to lightning and power-line surges.

15.Power Lines-An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light of power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.

16.Overloading-Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this can result in a risk of fire or electric shock.

17.Object and Liquid Entry-Never push objects of any kind into this TV through openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the TV.

+100 button- Press to select cable channels higher than 99.

10.MUTE button- Press the MUTE button to turn off the sound portion of the TV pro- gram. (Volume level display turns LIGHT RED from LIGHT BLUE.) Press the MUTE button again or press the VOL(ume) ??? or ??? button to restore sound.

11.CHANNEL RETURN button- Press this button to go back to the previously viewed channel. For example, pressing the CHAN- NEL RETURN button once will change channel display from CH 3 (present chan- nel) to CH 10 (previously viewed channel),

INSTALLING THE BATTERIES

1)Slide the battery compartment cover back on the remote unit.

2)Insert 2 "AA" penlight batteries into battery compartment in the direction as indicated by the polarity (+ / -) markings. Batteries installed with incorrect polarity may dam- age the remote unit.

1)Connect the power cord to a standard AC outlet. Note: If some digits appear in the corner of the screen,

press the POWER button without unplugging the power cord.

If the power fails or is disconnected while the TV is powered on, the TV will turn on automatical- ly when the power resumes.

WATCHING A TV PROGRAM

2)Select the desired channel with the CH(annel) ??? or ??? button.

3)Adjust the volume to the desired listening level using the VOL(ume) ??? or ??? button.

4)Adjust picture controls for a natural looking image. (See "PICTURE ADJUSTMENT".)

SETTING THE SLEEP TIMER

The sleep timer function allows you to have the power automatically turn off after a set time period.

1)Press the POWER button to turn on the TV and press the SLEEP button on the remote control .

2) You may change the sleep time by pressing the SLEEP button on the remote control repeatedly. The timer can be set up to 90 minutes, 10 minutes each time the SLEEP button is pushed. (The timer display counts up and sleep timer will be displayed on the screen when you press the SLEEP button on remote control.)

Note: When you disconnect the unit from the AC outlet, or if you have a power failure, the sleep time will be lost.

GAME MODE

Set to the most suitable position for TV GAME.

BRIGHT

Adjust until the darkest parts of the picture are as bright as you prefer.

[+] : increase brightness [-] : decrease brightness

CONTRAST

Adjust to increase or decrease contrast.

[+] : increase contrast [-] : decrease contrast

Adjust to be brilliant or pale color.

[+] : be brilliant color [-] : be pale color

TINT

Adjust to obtain natural skin tones.

[+] : greenish tone [-] : reddish tone

???In the above steps, the picture adjustment display will disappear from the TV screen

automatically after about 10 seconds if you do not press any buttons. Press the MENU and VOL(ume) ??? button so that "PIC- TURE" is selected. Then, press the CH(annel) ??? or ??? button repeatedly until the display returns to the screen.

???If you adjust any picture control after you set the Game mode to [ON], the Game mode is set to [OFF] automatically.

[USING THE GAME BUTTON]

You may also set the Game mode and external input mode at the same time by pressing the GAME button on the remote control. ???GAME??? appears on the TV screen.

???To exit the Game mode and external input mode, press the GAME button on the remote control again.

V-CHIP SET UP

V-CHIP enables parents to prevent their chil- dren from watching inappropriate material on TV.

V-CHIP reads the ratings for programming (except for news and sports programs, unedited movies on premium cable channels, and Emergency Broadcast System signals), then denies access to programming if the program's rating meets or exceeds the limitations you select. In this

case, "PROTECTED PROGRAM by ..." mes- sage appears on the TV screen. You can watch the protected program by entering access code

(default 0000).

To block certain ratings, follow the steps below.

???Programming may be rated by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) or according to the Television Parental Guidelines. In order to block any inappropri- ate programming, set your limits in both places (MPAA RATING and TV RATING).

???You cannot access the menu when the "PRO- TECTED PROGRAM by ..." message appears. In this case, change to an unblocked channel, then press the MENU button.

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Sometimes a performance problem can be easily solved by checking seemingly apparent but often over- looked possibilities. Before arranging for service, check these items. It could save you time and money.

Try a new channel, if OK, then possible station trouble.

Is TV plugged in?

Power at outlet?

Is TV???s POWER button on?

Is antenna connected to terminal on the back of the set?

If outside antenna is being used, check for broken wire.

Check for local interference.

Turn off with POWER button and then turn it on after about a minute.

Adjust COLOR control.

Adjust CONTRAST & BRIGHT control.

Check batteries in Remote Control.

Las Art??culo 810 del C??digo Nacional de Electricidad, ANSI/NFPA, n??m. 70, entrega informaci??n acerca de la manera correcta de conectar a tierra el m??stil y la estructura soportante, tama??o de los conductores de puesta a tierra, ubicaci??n de la unidad de descarga de la antena, conexi??n a los electrodos de tierra, y requisitos para el electrodo de tierra. 14.Tormentas el??ctricas-Como medida adicional de protecci??n durante tormentas el??ctricas, o cuando el grabador de videocassettes permanezca sin uso durante per??odos prolongados de tiempo, descon??ctelo del tomacorriente mural y desconecte la antena o sistema de cable. Esto evita que el TV resulte da??ado por tormentas el??ctricas o sobretensiones en la l??nea de alimentaci??n.

15.L??neas de alimentaci??n-Un antena exterior no debe ser instalada en la cercan??a de l??neas de alimentaci??n a??reas ni de otros circuitos de potencia para iluminaci??n el??ctrica, o donde pueda caerse y hacer contacto con tales l??neas o circuitos. Al instalar un sistema de antena exterior, tenga mucho cuidado de no tocar tales l??neas o circuitos de alimentaci??n, ya que el contacto con ellos podr??a ser fatal.

16.Sobrecarga-No sobrecargue los tomacorrientes murales ni los cables de extensi??n, ya que esto podr??a causar incendios o descargas el??ctricas.

17.Entrada de objetos y l??quidos-Nunca introduzca objetos de ning??n tipo por las aberturas de este TV, ya que podr??a tocar peligrosos puntos de alta tensi??n o piezas de cortocircuito, provocando incendios o descargas el??ctricas. Nunca derrame ning??n tipo de l??quido sobre el TV

18.Servicio-No intente reparar el TV usted mismo; al abrir

o desmontar las cubiertas usted se expondr?? a alta tensi??n y a otros peligros. Solicite todo servicio a personal calificado.

19.Da??os que requieran reparaci??n-En los siguientes casos, desconecte el TV del tomacorriente mural y llame a un t??cnico de servicio calificado:

a.Cuando el cable de alimentaci??n o la clavija est??n da??ados.

b.Si se ha derramado l??quido sobre la unidad, o si alg??n objeto ha ca??do dentro del TV.

c.Si el TV ha sido expuesto a la lluvia o al agua.

d.Cuando a pesar de haber seguido las instrucciones de operaci??n, el TV no funcione normalmente. Ajuste solamente los controles mencionados en el manual de instrucciones; el ajuste incorrecto de otros controles podr causar da??os a la unidad, la que por lo general requerir de un prolongado trabajo de reparaci??n (por un t??cnico calificado) para que sus condiciones normales de operaci??n puedan ser restablecidas.

e.Si el TV se ha ca??do o si el gabinete se ha da??ado.

f.Cuando el grabador de videocassettes muestre un cambio notorio en su rendimiento.

20.Piezas de repuesto-Cuando sea necesario reemplazar piezas, aseg??rese de que el t??cnico de servicio emplee las piezas de repuesto especificadas por el fabricante, o piezas que tengan las mismas caracter??sticas que las piezas originales. Las sustituciones no autorizadas podr??n causar incendios, descargas el??ctricas y otros problemas.

21.Revisi??n de seguridad-Al finalizar cualquier servicio de mantenimiento o reparaci??n de este TV, solic??tele al t??cnico que efect??e comprobaciones de seguridad para determinar si el TV se encuentra o no en condiciones ??ptimas de operaci??n.

9.Botones de n??meros de canales (CHANNEL NUMBER)- Pulse dos d??gitos para acceder directamente al canal deseado. Recuerde pulsar "0" antes de pulsar el n??mero de un canal de un solo d??gito. Bot??n +100- P??lselo para seleccionar canales de televisi??n por cable cuyo n??mero sea igual o superior al 100.

10.Bot??n de silenciamiento (MUTE)- Pulse el bot??n MUTE para apagar el sonido del programa de TV. (La visualizaci??n del nivel del volumen cambia del color AZUL CLARO a ROJO CLARO.) Pulse de nuevo el bot??n MUTE o los botones de K o L del volumen (VOL) para reponer el sonido.

11.Bot??n de retorno de canal (CHANNEL RETURN)- Pulse este bot??n para volver al canal previamente visto. Por ejemplo, al pulsar el bot??n CHANNEL RETURN una vez, la visualizaci??n de canales cambiar?? de CH 3 (canal actual) a CH 10 (canal visto

con anterioridad), y al pulsarlo por segunda vez, la visualizaci??n cambiar?? de CH 10 a CH 3.

12.Bot??n de visualizaci??n (DISPLAY)- P??lselo para visualizar el n??mero del canal en la pantalla. Si lo pulsa de nuevo, el n??mero del canal desaparecer??.

13.Bot??n del temporizador para dormir (SLEEP)- Pulse el bot??n SLEEP para visualizar el temporizador para dormir y activar la funci??n. El tiempo tras el cual se desactivar?? la funci??n se determinar?? mediante el n??mero de veces que se pulse el bot??n (0, 10, 20, 30.. 90, 0 minutos).

14.Bot??n de juego (GAME)- Pulselo para seleccionar el modo de juego y el modo de entrada externa al mismo tiempo. Pulse este bot??n de neuvo para salir de estos modos.

15.Toma de entrada de antena (ANT. IN)- Con??ctela a una antena, sistema de TV por cable o sistema de TV por sat??lite.

16.Cable de alimentaci??n de CA- Con??ctelo a una toma de CA est??ndar (120V/60Hz). NOTA: Antes de conectar el cable de alimentaci??n de CA a una toma de CA est??ndar, quitelo del gancho para que no se rompiera ning??n hilo.

1)Quite deslizando la tapa del compartimiento de las pilas en la unidad del control remoto.

2)Inserte 2 pilas peque??as "AA" en el compartimiento de las pilas, en la posici??n indicada por las marcas de polaridad (+ / -).

FUNCI??N DE CONTINUACI??N

Si falle o se desconecte la alimentaci??n mientras el televisor est?? encendida, el televisor se pondr?? autom??ticamente despu??s de la restituci??n de alimentaci??n.

PARA VER UN PROGRAMA DE TV

1)Pulse el bot??n POWER para encender el televisor.

2)Seleccione el canal deseado con el bot??n de K/L de canales.

3)Ajuste el volumen al nivel deseado utilizando el bot??n de K/L del volumen.

4)Ajuste los controles de imagen para obtener una imagen natural. (Consulte "AJUSTE DE IMAGEN".)

AJUSTE DEL TEMPORIZADOR PARA DORMIR

La funci??n del temporizador para dormir le permite desconectar la alimentaci??n, sin pulsar el bot??n POWER, una vez transcurrido un periodo de tiempo deseado.

1)Pulse el bot??n POWER para encender el televisor y pulse SLEEP del mando a distancia.

2)Podr?? elegir el tiempo tras el cual se va a desconectar la

alimentaci??n pulsando repetidamente el bot??n SLEEP del mando a distancia. El tiempo m??ximo es de 90 minutos, ajustable en pasos de 10 minutos cada vez que se pulsa el bot??n.

(La visualizaci??n del temporizador aumentar?? y la indicaci??n del temporizador para dormir aparecer?? en la pantalla cuando usted pulse el bot??n SLEEP del mando a distancia.)

Nota: Cuando desconecte la unidad de la toma de CA, o si se produce un fallo en la alimentaci??n, el tiempo establecido para el temporizador para dormir se perder??.

[USO DEL BOT??N GAME]

Se pueden seleccionar tambi??n el modo de juego y el modo de entrada externa al mismo tiempo, pulsando el bot??n GAME del mando a distancia. "GAME" aparece en la pantalla del televisor.

AJUSTE DE V-CHIP

V-CHIP permite a los padres impedir que sus hijos vean en el televisor programas no apropiados para ellos. V-CHIP lee la calificaci??n de la programaci??n (excepto noticias y programas de deportes, pel??culas sin editar de los canales de televisi??n por cable de inter??s general, y se??ales de sistemas de emisi??n de emergencia), y luego impide el acceso a la programaci??n si la calificaci??n de los programas encuentra las limitaciones que usted selecciona. En este caso, el mensaje "PROGRAMA PROHIBIDO por ..." aparece

en la pantalla del televisor.Puede ver el programa protegido introduciendo el c??digo de acceso (c??digo 0000 predeterminado).

Para bloquear la programaci??n, siga los pasos de abajo.

???La programaci??n puede haber sido calificada por la Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) o seg??n los consejos de Television Parental Guidelines. Para bloquear cualquier programaci??n inapropiada, establezca sus l??mites en "CLASE DE MPAA" y "CLASE DE TV"

???No puede tener acceso al men?? mientras el mensaje "PROGRAMA PROHIBIDO por

..." aparece. En este caso, cambie a un canal desbloquado, luego pulse el bot??n MENU.

CODIGODE ACCESSO V-CHIP

Para cambiar el c??digo de

seleccionar AJUSTE DE V-CHIP. Pulse el bot??n VOL(ume) ??? para continuar.

2) Pulse los botones de n??meros para introducir su c??digo de acceso viejo. Si no ha establecido nunca su c??digo de acceso personal, utilice el c??digo 0000.

3) Pulse el bot??n CH(annel) ??? o ??? para seleccionar CAMBIAR CODIGO. Luego, pulse el bot??n VOL(ume) ??? para continuar.

4) Utilice los botones de n??meros para introducir su c??digo de acceso deseado en el espacio

CODIGO NUEVO.

Luego, introduzca el mismo c??digo en el

espacio CODIGO CONFIRMADO. Su nuevo c??digo de acceso queda establecido. Usted volver?? a AJUSTE DE V-CHIP.

Si el c??digo del espacio CODIGO CONFIRMADO no es exactamente el mismo que el c??digo del espacio CODIGO NUEVO, repita el paso 4, asegur??ndose de introducir exactamente el nuevo c??digo en el espacio

CODIGO CONFIRMADO.

NOTAS:

???Si se produce un fallo en el suministro de alimentaci??n, el c??digo predeterminado, 0000, se convertir?? de nuevo en el c??digo de acceso activado.

???Si conecta el cable de alimentaci??n a una toma de CA que est?? controlada por un interruptor de pared, su c??digo de acceso personal ser?? borrado cada vez que desconecte la alimentaci??n con el interruptor de pared. El c??digo predeterminado volver?? a ser de nuevo el c??digo activado.

[SI OLVIDA SU C??DIGO DE ACCESO]

En este caso, el c??digo de acceso deber?? volver a ser el c??digo predeterminado, es decir, el 0000. Para restaurar 0000 como su c??digo de acceso personal, desenchufe el cable de alimentaci??n del televisor durante 10 segundos, y luego vuelva a enchufarlo.

GUIA EN CASO DE FALLAS

Algunas veces ocurren problemas de funcionamiento que pueden ser solucionados f??cilmente verificando posibilidades al parecer evidentes pero que frecuentemente son pasadas por alto. Antes de pedir la reparaci??n, verifique estos items. Con ello puede ahorrar tiempo y dinero.

Pruebe un canal nuevo, si est?? bien, posibles problemas en estaci??n transmisora.

Est?? enchufada la TV? Hay corriente?

El bot??n de la TV est?? en ON?

La antena est?? conectada a terminal atr??s del aparato?

Si usa antena exterior, verifique si hay cables quebrados?

Verifique si hay interferencia local.

Apague el bot??n POWER y encienda luego de aprox. un minuto.

Regule el control de COLOR.

Regule el control de CONTRASTE & CLARIDAD.

Verifique pilas en control remoto.
