MOUNTING THE

You can place the surge protector on a level surface or mount it on a wall. Select a location that is:

To claim damage to Connected Equipment as a result of telephone line transients, the surge protector must provide telephone line protection, and your telephone service equipment must include a properly installed and operating ???primary protection??? device at the service entrance. Primary protection devices are nor- mally available from the telephone company and added during tele- phone line installation. To claim damage to Connected Equipment as a result of coaxial line transients, the surge protector must pro- vide coaxial line protection.

This Limited Warranty and Connected Equipment Guarantee applies only to the original purchaser of the surge protector.

2.Have any surge-induced, damaged Connected Equipment re- paired (or get an estimate for repair) by a service center autho- rized by the manufacturer of the Connected Equipment unless the service center determines that the Connected Equipment is not repairable or that the cost of repair will be more than the pur- chase price of comparable replacement equipment. If the Con- nected Equipment is not to be repaired, get a written quotation for the purchase price of comparable replacement equipment. In no event will RadioShack reimburse more than the Equipment Limit. The repair bill or estimate from the authorized service cen- ter must indicate that the damage to the Connected Equipment was surge-induced; and

3.Ship the original surge protector, postage prepaid to: Ra- dioShack, 7020 Koll Center Pkwy, Suite 136, Pleasanton, Cali- fornia, 94588. Include: (a) your name, address and daytime telephone number; (b) the original or a photocopy of the sales receipt for the surge protector; (c) a brief description of any problem with the surge protector; (d) a brief description of how the damage to the Connected Equipment occurred; (e) the origi- nal authorized service center repair bill or estimate documenting that the damage to the Connected Equipment was surge-induced;

and (f) if replacement equipment is to be purchased, the original or a photocopy of the quotation for comparable replacement equipment and the authorized service center repair estimate must contain a statement that the Connected Equipment is not repairable or that the cost of repair will be more than the pur- chase price of comparable replacement equipment.

If RadioShack determines that damage to Connected Equipment is covered, RadioShack will reimburse, up to the Equipment Limit amount defined above, to the original purchaser of the surge pro- tector the lower of the: (a) repair charges; (b) purchase price of comparable replacement equipment; or (c) the original purchase price of the Connected Equipment. In addition, in the event of a covered product defect during the Warranty Period, RadioShack will, at its option, unless otherwise provided by law: (a) correct the

CONTROL ADAPTER SOCKETS

Your surge protector???s convenient USB CONTROL ADAPTER sockets let you use your computer to turn any device connected to these sockets on or off instead of turning the devices on and off individually. When you turn your computer on or off, the connected USB CONTROL ADAPTER sockets are also turned on and off.

2.Connect the AC adapter plug of the devices (computer peripherals) that you want to be turned on or off by the computer to the surge protector???s

USB CONTROL sockets.

3.Connect the surge protector???s USB plug to the computer???s USB port.

4.To activate the surge protector???s USB control function, press USB CONTROL ON/OFF in. USB CTRL lights. The peripherals connected to the sockets labeled USB CONTROL turn on when you turn on your computer and turn off when you turn off your computer.

5.To turn off the surge protector???s USB control function, press USB CONTROL ON/OFF out. USB CTRL turns off. The peripherals connected to the sockets labeled USB CONTROL stay on whether your computer is turned on or off.

Connect your computer network devices??? grounded AC power cords (up to seven) to the surge protector???s AC sockets and AC adapters (up to four) to the surge protector???s USB CONTROL sockets. You can also connect extra grounded AC plugs (excluding the computer???s) to the USB CONTROL sockets if you want their power to be controlled by the connected computer.

OPERATION

After you complete all the connections, plug the surge protector???s AC power cord into a three-prong standard grounded AC outlet. The GROUNDED WHEN LIT and PROTECTED WHEN LIT indicators light.

Your surge protector complies with Part 68 of FCC Rules and the requirements adopted by the ACTA. On the bottom of this product is a label with this product???s FCC Product

Identification number in the format US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. If requested, you must provide this information to the telephone company.

A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises wiring and telephone network must comply with the applicable FCC Part 68 rules and requirements adopted by the ACTA.

A compliant telephone cord and modular plug is provided with this product. It is designed to be connected to a compatible modular jack that is also compliant. See installation instructions for details.

If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connected to the telephone line, ensure the installation of this surge protector does not disable your alarm equipment. If you have questions about what will disable alarm equipment, consult your telephone company or a qualified installer.

You must not connect your surge protector to:

Your surge protector is not intended to be used with party-line systems. Connection to party line service is subject to state tariffs. Contact the state public utility commission, public service commission, or corporation commission for information.

We have designed your surge protector to conform to federal regulations, and you can connect it to most telephone lines. However, each surge protector (and each device, such as a telephone or answering machine) that you connect to the telephone line draws power from the telephone line. We refer to this power draw as the device's ringer equivalence number, or REN.

The REN is used to determine the number of devices that may be connected to a telephone line. Excessive RENs on a telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. In most but not all areas, the sum of RENs should not exceed five. To be certain of the number of devices that may be connected to a line, as determined by the total RENs, contact your local telephone company. For products approved after July 23, 2001, the REN for this product is part of the FCC Product Identification number in the format

US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. The digits represented by ## are the REN without a decimal point (e.g., 03 is a REN of 0.3). For earlier products, the REN is shown separately on the label.

If you use more than one phone or other device on the line, add up all of the RENs. If the total is more than five (three in rural areas), your telephones might not ring. If ringer operation is impaired, remove a device from the line.

Your surge protector comes with pairs of indication tags to identify which device???s power cord is connected to which AC socket. Stick a large color tag on the power cord at the rear of the device and the same color small tag next to the surge protector???s target AC socket.

To make a warranty claim for a defect in the surge protector without a claim for surge-induced damage to Connected Equipment, you must, during the Warranty Period, take the surge protector and the RadioShack sales receipt as proof of purchase date to any RadioShack store.

All replaced parts, products, and Connected Equipment and prod- ucts and Connected Equipment on which a refund is made, become the property of RadioShack. New or reconditioned parts and products may be used in the performance of warranty service. Repaired or replaced parts in surge protectors and replacement surge protectors are warranted for the remainder of the Warranty Period. You will be charged for repair or replacement of the product made after the expiration of the Warranty Period.

This Limited Warranty and Connected Equipment Guarantee does not cover: (a) damage or failure caused by or attributable to acts of God, abuse, accident, misuse, improper or abnormal usage, failure to follow instructions, improper installation or maintenance, alter- ation, lightning; (b) any repairs other than: (i) surge protector repairs provided by a RadioShack Authorized Service Facility; and (ii) reimbursement of the cost of initial repairs to Connected Equip- ment performed by a service center authorized by the manufac- turer of the Connected Equipment; (c) consumables such as fuses or batteries; (d) cosmetic damage; (e) transportation, shipping or insurance costs; or (f) costs of product or Connected Equipment removal, installation, set-up service adjustment or reinstallation.

Los convenientes enchufes USB CONTROL ADAPTER [ADAPTADOR CONTROL USB] del protector contra sobrevoltajes permiten emplear la computadora para encender y apagar cualquier dispositivo conectado a estos enchufes, en lugar de encenderlos y apagarlos individualmente. Cuando se enciende o se apaga la computadora, los enchufes USB CONTROL ADAPTER conectados tambi??n se encienden o se apagan.

1.Conecte la computadora a uno de los

2.Conecte la clavija del adaptador de corriente alterna de los dispositivos (equipo perif??rico de la computadora) que desee encender y apagar con la computadora en los enchufes USB CONTROL del protector contra sobrevoltajes.

3.Conecte la clavija USB del protector en el puerto USB de la computadora.

4.Para activar la funci??n de control de dispositivos USB del protector, oprima el bot??n USB CONTROL ON/OFF [CONTROL USB - ENC./APAG.] para introducirlo. En seguida se enciende el indicador USB CTRL. Los dispositivos perif??ricos conectados a los enchufes con el r??tulo USB CONTROL se encienden cuando se enciende la computadora y se apagan cuando se apaga ??sta.

Hemos dise??ado el protector contra sobrevoltajes de conformidad con las regulaciones federales, por lo cual puede conectarse a la mayor??a de las l??neas telef??nicas. No obstante, cada protector (y cada dispositivo, como los tel??fonos y los contestadores autom??ticos) que se conecten a la l??nea telef??nica consumen corriente de la misma. Nos referimos a este consumo de corriente como el n??mero de equivalencia de timbre (REN) del dispositivo.

El n??mero REN se emplea para determinar el n??mero de dispositivos que pueden conectarse a una l??nea telef??nica. Si los n??meros REN de los dispositivos conectados a una misma l??nea telef??nica suman un total excesivo, puede impedirse el debido funcionamiento de los timbres de los mismos al recibir una llamada. En la mayor??a de las ??reas geogr??ficas la suma total de los n??meros REN no debe excederse de cinco. Para tener seguridad acerca del n??mero de dispositivos que pueden conectarse a una l??nea, seg??n quede determinado por el total de n??meros REN, comun??quese con la compa????a telef??nica local. Para los productos aprobados despu??s del 23 de julio de 2001, el n??mero REN del producto es parte del n??mero de identificaci??n de producto de la FCC, con el formato US:AAAEQ##TXXXX. Adhiera una etiqueta grande de color en el cord??n de corriente, en la parte posterior del dispositivo, y la etiqueta peque??a del mismo color junto al enchufe deseado de corriente alterna del protector contra sobrevoltajes.

Si RadioShack determina que los da??os al Equipo Conectado est??n cubiertos, RadioShack reembolsar?? al comprador original del protector contra sobrecargas de tensi??n, hasta el monto del L??mite Aplicable al Equipo definido m??s arriba, la cantidad que sea menor entre: (a) el costo de la reparaci??n; (b) el precio de compra de un equipo comparable; o (c) el precio de compra original del Equipo Conectado. Asimismo, en caso de defecto de un producto cubierto durante el Per??odo de Garant??a, RadioShack adoptar?? una de las siguientes alternativas, a su opci??n, salvo si la ley dispone lo contrario: (a) corregir?? el defecto, reparando el protector contra sobrecargas de tensi??n sin cargo alguno por componentes y mano de obra; (b) reemplazar?? el protector contra sobrecargas de tensi??n por otro igual o de caracter??sticas similares; o (c) reembolsar?? el precio de compra del protector contra sobrecargas de tensi??n.

Si desea reclamar bajo la garant??a por defectos del protector contra sobrecargas de tensi??n pero no por da??os al Equipo Conectado resultantes de sobrecargas de tensi??n, lleve el protector contra sobrecargas de tensi??n y el recibo de compra que sirve de comprobante de la fecha de compra a cualquier tienda RadioShack durante el Per??odo de Garant??a.
