Automotive Surge and

Spike Protector

Green LED

Step One

The US Society of Automotive Engineers [SAE] has documented the existence of power surges and high voltage spikes on cigarette lighters and other 12-volt DC power outlet circuits. These potentially damaging spikes can be as great as 600 volts! Computers, TV's, DVD players, PDA's, cell

phones, and other portable electronics can be damaged by these surges and spikes if unprotected. Protect your equipment by plugging the Automotive Surge and Spike Protector into your vehicle???s cigarette lighter socket or power outlet. Then plug your equipment into the Protector.

This product complies with SAE Specification J1113-11and ISO Specification 7637. Tests were performed by an independent testing laboratory verifying that the unit eliminated the potentially damaging surges and spikes identified in these specifications. Use of this product provides you with an assurance that your sensitive and valuable electronics are connected to a powerful, power-conditioning circuit that will divert damaging high voltage spikes. The three outlets can carry a combined 12-volt DC load of 10 amps and are protected by a replaceable 15-amp fuse. For best results, follow the Installation and Use instructions.

Step Two

Installation and Use

1.Insert the power plug firmly into the vehicle's 12-volt cigarette outlet or other 12 volt-DC power source.

2.The green LED should light. If not, try turning the vehicle's ignition switch to the "On" or "Accessory" position. Some vehicles turn off all 12-volt circuits when the key is turned off.

If you are using a cigarette lighter receptacle and the LED still does not light, check the cigarette lighter circuit to see if the lighter heats up. Push the lighter into the receptacle until it latches. If the lighter does not heat up and pop out after 30 seconds, you may have a defective lighter or a blown fuse in the lighter circuit. Refer to your vehicle owner's manual for the fuse location and replacement procedure.

If you are using a separately provided 12-volt DC power outlet and the LED does not light, check the fuse in the circuit by referring to your owner???s manual for the fuse location and replacement procedure.

3.If the LED goes out, the adapter???s surge and spike protection circuits are not working. Check the adapter???s replaceable fuse and if blown, replace with the same type of 15-amp fuse. Replace the fuse by pressing in the tip, rotating it, then pull to remove.

4.Before using the adapter, unplug all items connected to the adapter. Connect your products one at a time to see if one of the products is causing the fuse to blow. If the fuse blows immediately after inserting the product's adapter plug into an outlet, replace the fuse in the adapter and have the product repaired.

5.If the green LED turns off after normal operation, the surge and spike protector has experienced a powerful surge and has protected your equipment. In doing so, the protection circuitry has been depleted and the surge and spike protector must be replaced to continue protecting your equipment.

LIMITED ONE-YEAR WARRANTY

AND CONNECTED EQUIPMENT GUARANTEE

LIMITED WARRANTY -- This surge protector product is warranted by RadioShack to the original purchaser against manufacturing defects in material and workmanship under normal use for one (1) year from the date of purchase (the "Warranty Period") from RadioShack company owned stores and authorized RadioShack franchisees and dealers. CONNECTED EQUIPMENT GUARANTEE -- RadioShack warrants to the original purchaser of the surge protector that if any electronic equipment (the "Connected Equipment"), which is properly installed and connected (as defined below) to the surge protector and is damaged during the Warranty Period by a transient voltage surge/spike from the DC automotive power system, that enters the Connected Equipment through the surge protector, RadioShack will reimburse to the original purchaser of the surge protector the lower of the: (a) Connected Equipment repair charges; (b) purchase price of equipment comparable (as determined by RadioShack) to the Connected Equipment; or (c) original purchase price of the Connected Equipment, up to a maximum of two thousand five hundred U.S. dollars ($2,500.00) (the "Equipment Limit"). The Connected Equipment Guarantee does not cover data loss or any other damages excluded in the all capitalized paragraph below. In order to qualify for Connected Equipment reimbursement, the surge protector must be returned to RadioShack and inspection of the surge protector must show its protection capacity was exhausted by a surge. "Properly installed and connected" means the surge protector must be plugged directly into a properly wired 12VDC automotive cigarette lighter socket, and no more than one piece of Connected Equipment may be connected to any one surge protector outlet. All power wires leading into the Connected Equipment must be plugged into the surge protector. The total current draw from the Connected Equipment must not exceed the surge protector rating.

This Limited Warranty and Connected Equipment Guarantee applies only to the original purchaser of the surge protector.
