The Radio Shack AM/FM Compact Portable Desktop Radio is designed for your active lifestyle. You get high quality sound in a compact, lightweight package that lets you listen to music, sports, or news almost anywhere you go. The built-in speaker lets you share the listening with a friend.

You need two AA alkaline batteries to power the radio, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 552. Follow these steps to install the batteries.

1.Push the battery compartment cover's tab and lift off the cover.

2.Insert two AA batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the compartment.

3.Replace the cover.

Notes: If the radio's sound weakens, replace the batteries.

If you do not plan to use the radio for a week or more, remove the batteries.

1.Turn OFF/VOLUME to the right until it clicks to turn on the radio.

2.Set OFF/VOLUME to a comfortable listening level.

3.Set AM/FM to the desired band.

4.Rotate TUNING to select the desired station.

Note : The radio's AM antenna is built-in. Turn the radio for best AM reception. For best FM reception, fully extend and adjust the position of the FM antenna.

5.Turn OFF/VOLUME to the left until it clicks to turn off the radio.

FCC INFORMATION

The radio might cause TV or radio interference even when it is operating properly. To determine whether the radio is causing the interference, turn off the radio. If the interference goes away, the radio is causing the interference. Try to eliminate the interference by:

Moving the radio away from the receiver

Contacting the local Radio Shack store for help

If you cannot eliminate the interference, the FCC requires that you stop using the radio.

Keep the radio dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.

Occasionally wipe the radio with a damp cloth to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the radio.

Use only fresh batteries for the recommended size and type. Always remove old or weak batteries. Otherwise, they could leak chemicals that destroy electronic circuits.

Modifying or tampering with your radio's internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate the radio's warranty and void your FCC authorization to operate it. If the radio is not performing as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance.
