PREPARATION
POWER SOURCES
You can power the TV from any of three power sources:
???internal battery power (using four D batteries (not supplied)
???standard AC power (using an optional AC adapter)
???vehicle battery power (using an optional DC power cord)
Internal Battery Power
Your TV requires four D batteries for power. For the best performance and longest life, we recommend Ra- dioShack alkaline batteries.
Cautions:
???Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type.
???Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of batteries (stan- dard, alkaline, or rechargeable), or rechargeable batteries of differ- ent capacities.
Follow these steps to install batteries.
1.Move the antenna out of the way and push and lift up the battery cover's buckle on the back of the TV to open the battery compart- ment cover.
2.Install four fresh alkaline batteries as indicated by the polarity sym- bols (+ and

3.Close the battery cover and push down the buckle to secure the bat- tery cover.
Note: The TV can operate for about 9 hours with alkaline batteries. When the sound level lowers or the picture becomes unstable, replace the batter- ies.

Warning: Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury them.
Caution: If you do not plan to use the TV with batteries for an extended peri- od, remove the batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic parts.
To access the EARPHONE, DC 6V IN, and AV IN jacks on the back of the TV, use a

Set the adapter's voltage switch to 6V. Plug the adapter's barrel plug into the TV's DC 6V IN jack. Then plug the other end of the adapter into a standard AC outlet.
Notes:
???Do not leave the adapter plugged into the AC outlet or connected to the TV when you are not using the TV.
???Always unplug the adapter from the AC outlet first.
???Internal batteries automatically disconnect when you plug an adapter into the DC 6V IN jack.
???The adapter might become warm after extended periods of use.

Vehicle Battery Power
You can use an optional DC adapter to power the TV from your vehicle's

OPERATION
1.Extend the
2.Press POWER to turn on the TV.
3.Press VHF/UHF to select VHF or UHF. The TV starts scanning and stops at the next active channel in the selected band. A vertical blue line moves across the screen when scanning VHF channels; a vertical green line moves when scanning UHF channels.
Note: If the scanning line appears vague or the tuned channel can- not be locked when operating in battery power, the batteries might be weak. Replace them with new alkaline batteries.
4.Press CHANNEL < or > to tune to the desired channel. The scan- ning line on the screen aligns with the selected channel number below the screen and then disap- pears when the channel is received.
To adjust the brightness, press BRIGHT ??? or +. The brightness also changes with the screen's angle.
To adjust the volume, press VOL- UME ??? or +.
5.Slowly adjust the antenna direc- tion to get the best picture.
Notes:
???If desired, fold out the stand on the back of the TV and lean the TV on a flat surface at a conve- nient angle. The stand can also be used as a handle to carry the TV.
???If reception is poor, adjust the length or angle of the rod antenna. If inside a metal or concrete build- ing, moving closer to a window might improve reception.
???Be sure to attach the connecting jacks' cover on the back securely when operating the TV in a wet area.

USING AN EARPHONE
For private listening, you can connect an optional earphone with a
protect your hearing, follow these guidelines when you use earphones.
???Set the volume to the lowest set- ting before you begin listening. After you begin listening, adjust the volume to a comfortable level.
???Do not listen at extremely high volume levels. Extended
???Once you set the volume, do not increase it. Over time, your ears adapt to the volume level, so a volume level that does not cause

discomfort might still damage your hearing.
USING THE AV IN JACK
The AV IN jack on the back of the TV lets you connect a VCR, camcorder, or VCD to the TV. To connect the vid- eo equipment to the TV, you need an Audio/Video adapter plug. (We recom- mend RadioShack Cat. No.
Connect the cable???s red plug into the component???s video output jack and its white plug into the component???s audio output jack. Then, plug the cable???s black mini plug into the TV???s AV IN jack. The TV automatically switches to the AV mode. When you disconnect the video source's signal cord, the TV automatically returns to the TV mode.
TROUBLESHOOTING
We do not expect you to have any problems with your TV, but if you do, these suggestions might help.
No picture or sound.
???Make sure the batteries are fresh and correctly installed.
???Make sure any adapter is correctly connected.
???Check vehicle???s power fuse and replace it if necessary.
Blurry picture and noisy sound.
???Fully extend the rod antenna and adjust its position.
???Press CHANNEL < or > to fine tune the channel.
???Replace the batteries.
???Be sure the TV is away from appli- ances that may cause interfer- ence.
Bad reception due to a weak signal or a signal that is blocked by a building.
???Move the TV to an unobstructed location. In locations with poor reception, it might be impossible to get a clear picture or any pic- ture at all.
Picture, but no sound.
???Adjust the volume.
???Make sure an earphone is not connected.
TV will not lock onto any channel and picture is dark.
??? Replace the batteries.
If you are unable to locate the prob- lem, take the TV to your local Ra- dioShack store for assistance.
CARE
To enjoy your RadioShack
???Keep the TV dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately.
???Use and store the TV only in nor- mal temperature environments.
???Handle the TV gently and care- fully. Don???t drop it.
???Keep the TV away from dust and dirt.
???Wipe the TV with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new.
Modifying or tampering with the TV???s internal components can cause a mal- function and invalidate its warranty. If your TV is not performing as it should, take it to your local RadioShack store for assistance.
