GENERAL SAFETY RULES

nDo not allow children or untrained individuals to use this unit.
nNever start or run the engine inside a closed area; breath- ing exhaust fumes can kill.
???n Wear eye protection which is marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1 as well as hearing protection when operating this product.
nKeep all bystanders, children, and pets at least 50 ft. away.
nWear heavy long pants, boots, and gloves. Do not wear loose fitting clothing, short pants, jewelry of any kind, or go barefoot.
nTo reduce the risk of injury associated with objects being drawn into rotating parts, do not wear loose clothing, scarves, neck chains, and the like.
???n Secure long hair so it is above shoulder level to prevent entanglement in any rotating parts.
???n Do not operate this unit when you are tired, ill, or under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication.
nDo not operate in poor lighting.
nKeep all parts of your body away from any moving parts and all hot surfaces of the unit.
nWear a face filter mask in dusty conditions to reduce the risk of injury associated with the inhalation of dust.
nCheck the work area before each use. Remove all objects such as rocks, broken glass, nails, wire, or string which can be thrown or become entangled in the machine.
nKeep firm footing and balance. Do not overreach. Over- reaching can result in loss of balance or exposure to hot surfaces.
nNever operate the unit without a spark arrestor screen; this screen is located inside the muffler.
nProduct users on United States Forest Service land, and in some states, must comply with fire prevention regula- tions. This product is equipped with a spark arrestor; however, other user requirements may apply. Check with the federal, state, or local authorities in your area.
nBefore storing, allow the engine to cool.
???n Empty fuel tank and restrain the unit from moving before transporting in a vehicle.
nTo reduce the risk of fire and burn injury, handle fuel with care. It is highly flammable.
nDo not smoke while handling fuel.
nMix and store fuel in a container approved for gasoline.
nMix fuel outdoors where there are no sparks or flames.
nSelect bare ground, stop engine, and allow to cool before refueling.
???n Loosen fuel cap slowly to release pressure and to keep fuel from escaping around the cap.
nTighten the fuel cap securely after refueling.
nWipe spilled fuel from the unit. Move 30 ft. away from refueling site before starting engine.
nNever attempt to burn off spilled fuel under any circum- stances.
nUse only identical manufacturer???s replacement parts and accessories. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage.
nMaintain the unit per maintenance instructions in this Operator???s Manual.
nInspect the unit before each use for loose fasteners, fuel leaks, etc. Replace damaged parts.

Before attempting to use this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules.
BLOWER TUBE AND NOZZLE
The blower tube and nozzle can be assembled and installed on the blower using no tools.
CRUISE CONTROL/THROTTLE LOCK
The cruise control (throttle lock) feature allows you to oper- ate the blower without continuously holding the throttle trigger.
MOTOR
The blower has a powerful 30cc engine with sufficient power to handle tough jobs.
THROTTLE TRIGGER
The blower can be operated at any speed between idle and full throttle.
WIDE SWEEPER NOZZLE
The wide sweeper nozzle allows for more area to be covered during blower operation.
ASSEMBLY
UNPACKING
This product requires assembly.
nCarefully remove the tool and any accessories from the box. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included.
nInspect the tool carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping.
nDo not discard the packing material until you have care- fully inspected and satisfactorily operated the tool.

ASSEMBLY
WARNING:
Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug wire before installing parts, making adjustments, cleaning, or when not in use. Failure to do so could result in possible serious personal injury.
ASSEMBLING THE BLOWER TUBES
See Figure 2.
???n Screw the nozzle onto the upper blower tube and tighten securely. Check tightness after initial run and retighten if needed.
nPlace clamp around the neck of the blower housing outlet. Do not tighten the knob yet.
nAlign the locking tab on upper blower tube with the slot in the blower housing outlet; push the tube into the housing. Twist to lock into place.
nRotate the tube so the nozzle is pointing upward as shown. Tighten the knob securely.
nTo remove the tubes, loosen the knob on the clamp. Rotate the tubes to unlock them and remove from the blower housing outlet.

MIXING THE FUEL

FILLING THE TANK
WARNING:
Always stop the engine before filling the fuel tank. Never add fuel to a machine with a running or hot engine. Move at least 30 ft. from the refueling area before starting engine. Do not smoke while filling the tank.
nClean the surface around the fuel cap to prevent con- tamination.
nLoosen the fuel cap slowly by turning counterclock- wise.
nPour the fuel mixture carefully into the tank.
n???Clean and inspect the fuel cap gasket before replacing the fuel cap.
???n Replace the fuel cap and tighten it by turning it clock- wise.
???n Wipe spilled fuel from the product.
??????n Move at least 30 ft. away from refueling area before start- ing the product.
NOTE: It is normal for smoke to be emitted from a new engine during first use.
WARNING:
Check for fuel leaks. A leaking fuel cap is a fire hazard and must be replaced immediately. If you find any leaks, correct the problem before using the product. Failure to do so could result in a fire that could cause serious personal injury.

OPERATION
STARTING AND STOPPING
See Figure 3.
Starting the product differs depending on whether the engine is cold or warm.
TO START A COLD ENGINE:
nPlace the blower on a flat, bare surface.
nMake sure cruise control is locked in the IDLE position. Do not engage the throttle trigger or cruise control during the

nMove the choke lever to the full choke position marked
START.
nPull the starter rope until the engine runs.
nAllow the engine to run 15 seconds, then engage the throttle trigger to begin operation.
TO START A WARM ENGINE:
nMove the choke lever to the full choke position marked

nPull the starter rope until the engine runs.
TO STOP:
See Figure 4.
Release the throttle trigger and push STOP on the engine switch.

WARNING:
Keep away from all hot surfaces of the blower. Failure to do so could result in possible serious personal injury.
OPERATING THE BLOWER
See Figures 5 - 6.
???WARNING:
Always hold the blower away from your body, keeping clearance between your body and the product. Any con- tact with the housing can result in burns and/or other serious personal injury.
nHold the blower with the handle in your right hand. (Proper operating position is shown in figure 5.)
nTo keep from scattering debris, blow around the outer edges of a debris pile. Never blow directly into the center of a pile.
nOperate power equipment at reasonable hours only
??? not early in the morning or late at night when people might be disturbed. Comply with the times listed in local ordinances.
???n To reduce sound levels, limit the number of pieces of equipment used at any one time.

??????n Operate blower at the lowest possible throttle speed to do the job.
??????n Check your equipment before operation, especially the muffler, air intakes and air filters.
??????n Use rakes and brooms to loosen debris before blowing.
???n In dusty conditions, slightly dampen surfaces when water is available.
??????n Conserve water by using power blowers instead of hoses for many lawn and garden applications, including areas such as gutters, screens, patios, grills, porches and gardens.
???n Watch out for children, pets, open windows or freshly washed cars, and blow debris safely away.
???n Use the full blower nozzle extension so the air stream can work close to the ground.
???n After using blowers or other equipment, CLEAN UP! Dispose of debris in trash receptacles.
???n The wide sweeper nozzle allows for large areas to be covered during blowing operation.
CRUISE CONTROL (THROTTLE LOCK)
See Figure 7.
The cruise control (throttle lock) can be used to operate the blower without continuously holding the throttle trigger.
TO ENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL:
???n For full throttle, depress the throttle trigger fully and slide the cruise control selector as far forward as possible.
nTo reduce engine speed, slide the cruise control selector toward the back of the blower until the desired speed is reached.
nTo release the cruise control, return the cruise control selector to the off position.

When servicing, use only identical Homelite replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage.
WARNING:
Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields during power tool operation or when blowing dust. If operation is dusty, also wear a dust mask.
GENERAL MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.
WARNING:
Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum- based products, penetrating oils, etc., come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals can damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.
LUBRICATION
All of the bearings in this tool are lubricated with a sufficient amount of high grade lubricant for the life of the unit under normal operating conditions. Therefore, no further lubrication
is required.
For proper performance and long life, keep the air filter clean.
???n Push down on the latch of the air filter cover; carefully pull the top of the air filter cover so it pivots away from the base.
???n Remove the air filter and clean it in warm soapy water. Rinse and let dry completely.
???n Reinstall the air filter into the air filter base.
???n Pivot the cover back in place. Push the latch back into the slot and ensure the cover is locked in place.
NOTE: The filter should be replaced annually for best performance.

MAINTENANCE
SPARK ARRESTOR
The muffler is equipped with a spark arrestor screen inside muffler body. After extended use the screen can become dirty and may need to have the muffler replaced by an authorized servicing dealer.
WARNING:
Never run the blower without the spark arrestor in place. Failure to do so could result in a fire that could cause serious personal injury.
CLEANING THE EXHAUST PORT AND
MUFFLER
Depending on the type of fuel used, the type and amount of oil used, and/or your operating conditions, the exhaust port and muffler may become blocked with carbon deposits. If you notice low power from the blower, have a qualified service technician check the exhaust port and muffler for carbon deposits. Removing the carbon deposits should restore performance to the blower.

A leaking fuel cap is a fire hazard and must be replaced immediately. Failure to do so could result in a fire that could cause serious personal injury.

HomeliteConsumerProducts,Inc.warrantstotheoriginal retail purchaser that this HOMELITE product is free from defect in material and workmanship and agrees to repair or replace, at Homelite Consumer Products, Inc.???s discretion, any defective product free of charge within these time periods from the date of purchase.
n???One year for the following units: Yard Broom, Trimlite and Bandit;
n???Two years if the product is used for personal, family or household use;
???n 90 days, if used for any other purpose, such as commercial or rental.
This warranty extends to the original retail purchaser only and commences on the date of the original retail purchase.
Any part of the HOMELITE product manufactured or supplied by HOMELITE and found in the reasonable judgment of HOMELITE to be defective in material or workmanship will be repaired or replaced by an authorized HOMELITE service dealer without charge for parts and labor.
The product, including any defective part, must be returned to an authorized service dealer within the warranty period. The expense of delivering the HOMELITE product to the dealer for warranty work and the expense of returning it back to the owner after repair or replacement will be paid by the owner. HOMELITE???S responsibility in respect to claims is limited to making the required repairs or replacements and no claim of breach of warranty shall be cause for cancellation or rescission of the contract of sale of any HOMELITE product. Proof of purchase will be required by the dealer to substantiate any warranty claim. All warranty work must be performed by an authorized HOMELITE service dealer.
This warranty is limited to ninety (90) days from the date of original retail purchase for any HOMELITE product that is used for rental or commercial purposes, or any other
