IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION.

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING.

WARNING!

For your safety, the information in this manual must be followed to minimize the risk of fire, electric shock, or to prevent property damage, personal injury, or loss of life.

WARNING ANTI-TIP DEVICE

All ranges can tip and injury could result.

To prevent accidental tipping of the range, secure the attached Anti-Tip bracket, under the rear countertop.

If the Anti-Tip device supplied with the range does not fit this application, use the universal Anti-Tip device WB2X7909.

To check if the device is installed and engaged properly, lower the oven door and gently apply medium force at the handle end until movement of the range is detected. Continue pressing until the anti-tip bracket is engaged and movement stops. A small amount of movement is acceptable at the back of the range top but it should be stable and not tip once the anti-tip bracket is engaged.

If you pull the range out from the wall for any reason, make sure the device is properly engaged when you push the range back against the wall. If it is not, there is a possible risk of the range tipping over and causing injury if you or a child stand, sit or lean on an open door.

Please refer to the Anti-Tip device information shipped with the device and in this manual. Failure to take this precaution could result in tipping of the range and injury.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE

The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act requires the Governor of California to publish a list of substances known to the state to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm, and requires businesses to warn customers of potential exposure to such substances.

The fiberglass insulation in self-clean ovens gives off a very small amount of carbon monoxide during the cleaning cycle. Exposure can be minimized by venting with an open window or using a ventilation fan or hood.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should be followed, including the following:

Consumer Support Troubleshooting

??? Use this appliance only for its intended purpose as described in this Owner???s Manual.

???Be sure your appliance is properly installed and grounded by a qualified installer in accordance with the provided installation instructions.

???Have the installer show you the location

of the circuit breaker or fuse. Mark it for easy reference.

???Do not attempt to repair or replace any part of your range unless it is specifically recommended in this manual. All other servicing should be referred to a qualified technician.

???Before performing any service, disconnect the range power supply at the household distribution panel by removing the fuse or switching off the circuit breaker.

2

???Do not leave children alone???children should not be left alone or unattended in an area where an appliance is in use. They should never be allowed to sit or stand on any part of the appliance.

WARNING!

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Instructions Safety

???Never wear loose-fitting or hanging garments while using the appliance. Be careful when reaching for items stored over the range. Flammable material could be ignited if brought in contact with hot surface units or heating elements and may cause severe burns.

???Use only dry pot holders???moist or damp pot holders on hot surfaces may result in burns from steam. Do not let pot holders touch hot surface units or heating elements. Do not use a towel or other bulky cloth in place of pot holders.

???For your safety, never use your appliance for warming or heating the room.

???Teach children not to play with the controls or any other part of the range.

???Always keep dish towels, dish cloths, pot holders and other linens a safe distance from your range.

???Always keep wooden and plastic utensils and canned food a safe distance from

your range.

???Always keep combustible wall coverings, curtains or drapes a safe distance from your range.

???Do not let cooking grease or other flammable materials accumulate in or near the range.

???Keep the hood and grease filters clean to maintain good venting and to avoid grease fires.

???Do not use water on grease fires. Never pick up a flaming pan. Turn the controls off. Smother a

flaming pan on a surface unit by covering the pan completely with a well-fitting lid, cookie sheet or flat tray. Use a multi-purpose dry chemical or foam-type fire extinguisher.

???Flaming grease outside a pan can be put out by covering it with baking soda or, if available, by using a multi-purpose dry chemical or foam- type fire extinguisher.

???Flame in the oven can be smothered completely by closing the oven door and turning the oven off or by using a multi-purpose dry chemical or foam-type fire extinguisher.

???Do not touch the surface units, the heating elements or the interior surface of the oven. These surfaces may be hot enough to burn even though they are dark in color. During and after use, do not touch, or let clothing or other flammable materials contact the surface units, areas nearby the surface units or any interior area of the oven; allow sufficient time for cooling first.

???Potentially hot surfaces include the cooktop, areas facing the cooktop, oven vent opening, surfaces near the opening, crevices around the oven door.

???REMEMBER: The inside surface of the oven may be hot when the door is opened.

???Do not store or use combustible materials, gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.

Troubleshooting Cleaning and Care Instructions Operating

COOK MEAT AND POULTRY THOROUGHLY???

Cook meat and poultry thoroughly???meat to at least an INTERNAL temperature of 160??F and poultry to at least an INTERNAL temperature of 180??F. Cooking to these temperatures usually protects against foodborne illness.

SURFACE COOKING UNITS

Use proper pan size???select cookware having flat bottoms large enough to cover the surface unit heating element. The use of undersized cookware will expose a portion of the surface unit to direct contact and may result in ignition of clothing. Proper relationship of cookware to surface unit will also improve efficiency.

Consumer Tips

???Never leave the surface units unattended

at high heat settings. Boilovers cause smoking and greasy spillovers that may catch on fire.

???Do not use aluminum foil to line the drip pans or anywhere in the oven except as described in this manual. Misuse could result in a shock, fire hazard or damage to the range.

???Be sure the drip pans and the vent duct are not covered and are in place. Their absence during cooking could damage range parts and wiring.

???Only certain types of glass, glass ???ceramic, earthenware or other glazed containers are

suitable for cooktop service; others may break 3 because of the sudden change in temperature.

Support

???When using cooking or roasting bags in the oven, follow the manufacturer???s directions.
???Do not use the oven to dry newspapers. If overheated, they can catch on fire.
???Do not use the oven for a storage area. Items stored in an oven can ignite.
???Do not leave paper products, cooking utensils or food in the oven when not in use.
???Do not use aluminum foil to line oven bottoms, except as suggested in this manual. Improper installation of aluminum foil may result in a risk of electric shock or fire.

Instructions

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION.

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING.

SURFACE COOKING UNITS (cont.)

Operating Instructions Safety

???To minimize the possibility of burns, ignition of flammable materials and spillage, the handle of a container should be turned toward the center of the range without extending over nearby surface units.

???Always turn the surface units off before removing cookware.

???Do not immerse or soak the removable surface units. Do not put them in a dishwasher. Do not self-clean the surface units in the oven.

???When preparing flaming foods under the hood, turn the fan on.

???To avoid the possibility of a burn or electric shock, always be certain that the controls for all surface units are at the OFF position and all coils are cool before attempting to lift or remove a unit.

???Clean the cooktop with caution. If a wet sponge is used to wipe spills on a hot cooktop, be careful to avoid steam burns.

???Keep an eye on foods being fried at high or medium high heat settings.

???Foods for frying should be as dry as possible. Frost on frozen foods or moisture on fresh foods can cause hot fat to bubble up and over the sides of the pan.

???Use little fat for effective shallow or deep fat frying. Filling the pan too full of fat can cause spillovers when food is added.

???If a combination of oils or fats will be used in frying, stir together before heating, or as fats melt slowly.

???Always heat fat slowly, and watch as it heats.

???Use a deep fat thermometer whenever possible to prevent overheating fat beyond the smoking point.

Troubleshooting Tips Care and Cleaning

WARNING!

OVEN

Stand away from the range when opening the oven door. Hot air or steam which escapes can cause burns to hands, face and/or eyes.

???Do not heat unopened food containers. Pressure could build up and the container could burst, causing an injury.

???Keep the oven vent unobstructed.

???Keep the oven free from grease buildup.

???Place the oven shelf in the desired position while the oven is cool. If shelves must be handled when hot, do not let pot holder contact the heating elements.

???Pulling out the shelf to the stop-lock is a convenience in lifting heavy foods. It is also a precaution against burns from touching hot surfaces of the door or oven walls.

SELF-CLEANING OVEN

Do not use oven cleaners. No commercial oven cleaner or oven liner protective coating of any kind should be used in or around any part of the oven. Residue from oven cleaners will damage the inside of the oven when the self-clean cycle is used.

Support

???Do not clean the door gasket. The door gasket is essential for a good seal. Care should be taken not to rub, damage or move the gasket.

???Before self-cleaning the oven, remove the broiler pan, grid and other cookware.

???Be sure to wipe up excess spillage before starting the self-cleaning operation.

???If the self-cleaning mode malfunctions, turn the oven off and disconnect the power supply. Have it serviced by a qualified technician.

???Clean only parts listed in this Owner???s Manual.

Operating Instructions

1???

Not over 1 inch.

Surface Cookware Tips

Use medium- or heavy-weight cookware. Aluminum cookware conducts heat faster than other metals. Cast-iron and coated cast-iron cookware are slow to absorb heat, but generally cook evenly at low to medium heat settings. Steel pans may cook unevenly if not combined with other metals.

For best cooking results, pans should be flat on the bottom. Match the size of the saucepan to the size of the surface unit. The pan should not extend over the edge of the surface unit more than 1???.

and Care Instructions

Wok Cooking

We recommend that you use only a flat-bottomed wok. They are available at your local retail store.

Do not use woks that have support rings.

Placing the ring over the surface unit will cause a buildup of heat that will damage the porcelain cooktop.

Use only flat-bottomed woks.

Do not use round bottom woks. You could be seriously burned if the wok tipped over.

Troubleshooting Cleaning

Home Canning Tips

Be sure the canner is centered over the surface unit.

Make sure the canner is flat on the bottom.

Use recipes and procedures from reputable sources. These are available from manufacturers such as Ball?? and Kerr?? and the Department of Agriculture Extension Service.

Instructions

Using the oven.

To avoid possible burns, place the shelves in the desired position before you turn the oven on.

Instructions Safety

The oven has 7 shelf positions.

Before you begin???

The shelves have stop-locks, so that when placed correctly on the shelf supports (A through G), they will stop before coming completely out, and will not tilt.

When placing and removing cookware, pull the shelf out to the bump on the shelf support.

To remove a shelf, pull it toward you, tilt the front end up and pull it out.

To replace, place the end of the shelf (stop-locks) on the support, tilt up the front and push the shelf in.

CAUTION: When you are using the shelf in the lowest position (A), you will need to use caution when pulling the shelf out. We recommend that you pull the shelf out several inches and then, using two pot holders, pull the shelf out by holding the sides of it. The shelf is low and you could be burned if you place your hand in the middle of the shelf and pull all the way out. Be very careful not to burn your hand on the door when using the shelf in the lowest position (A).

The Display will show ???PrE??? while preheating. When the oven reaches the selected temperature, the oven control will beep and the display will show the oven temperature.

Baking results will be better if baking pans are centered in the oven as much as possible. If baking with more than one pan, place the pans so each has at least 1 to 11???2??? of air space around it. If baking four cake layers at the same time, place two layers on rack B and two layers on rack D. Stagger pans on the rack so one is not directly above the other.

Consumer Support

Cut slits in the foil just like the grid.

8

Aluminum Foil

Never cover the oven bottom with aluminum foil.

You can use aluminum foil to line the broiler pan and broiler grid. However, you must mold the foil tightly to the grid and cut slits in it just like the grid.

Aluminum foil may also be used to catch a spillover. To do so, place a small sheet of foil on a lower shelf several inches below the food.

Never entirely cover a shelf with aluminum foil. This will disturb the heat circulation and result in poor baking.

Recipe failure can result if cakes, pies, pastries, cookies or candies are made with low-fat spreads. The lower the fat content of a spread product, the more noticeable these differences become.

Federal standards require products labeled ???margarine??? to contain at least 80% fat by weight. Low-fat spreads, on the other hand, contain less fat and more water. The high moisture content of these spreads affects the texture and flavor of baked goods. For best results with your old favorite recipes, use margarine, butter or stick spreads containing at least 70% vegetable oil.

Never force the latch handle. Forcing the handle will damage the door lock mechanism.

Safety

Wipe up heavy soil on the oven bottom.

Before a Clean Cycle

We recommend venting your kitchen with an open window or using a ventilation fan or hood during the first self-clean cycle.

Remove the shelves, broiler pan, broiler grid, all cookware and any aluminum foil from the oven.

NOTE: Take the shelves out of the oven before you begin the self-clean cycle or they may discolor.

Soil on the front frame of the range and outside the gasket on the door will need to be cleaned by hand. Clean these areas with hot water, soap-filled steel wool pads or cleansers such as Soft Scrub??. Rinse well with clean water and dry.

Do not clean the gasket. The fiberglass material of the oven door gasket cannot withstand abrasion. It is essential for the gasket to remain intact. If you notice it becoming worn or frayed, replace it.

Wipe up any heavy spillovers on the oven bottom.

Make sure the oven light bulb cover is in place and the oven light is off.

IMPORTANT: The health of some birds is extremely sensitive to the fumes given off during the self-cleaning cycle of any range. Move birds to another well- ventilated room.

After a Clean Cycle

You may notice some white ash in the oven. Wipe it up with a damp cloth after the oven cools.

If white spots remain, remove them with a soap- filled scouring pad and rinse thoroughly with

a vinegar and water mixture.

These deposits are usually a salt residue that cannot be removed by the clean cycle.

If the oven is not clean after one clean cycle, repeat the cycle.

???You cannot set the oven for cooking until the oven is cool enough for the door to be unlatched.

???While the oven is self-cleaning, you can press the CLOCK pad to display the time of day. To return to the clean countdown, press the COOKING TIME pad.

???Apply a small amount of vegetable oil to a paper towel and wipe the edges of the oven shelves with the paper towel. Do not spray with Pam?? or other lubricant sprays.

Be sure all controls are off and all surfaces are cool before cleaning any part of the range.

If your range is removed for cleaning, servicing or any reason, be sure the anti-tip device is re-engaged properly when the range is replaced. Failure to take this precaution could result in tipping of the range and cause injury.

How to Remove Packaging Tape

Instructions Safety

To assure no damage is done to the finish of the product, the safest way to remove the adhesive left from packaging tape on new appliances is an application of a household liquid dishwashing detergent, mineral oil or cooking oil.

Apply with a soft cloth and allow to soak. Wipe dry and then apply an appliance polish to thoroughly clean and protect the surface.

NOTE: The plastic tape (on some models) must be removed from all chrome trim. It cannot be removed if it is baked on.

Control Knobs

The control knobs may be removed for easier cleaning.

To remove a knob, pull it straight off the stem. If a knob is difficult to remove, place a towel or dishcloth between the knob and control panel

and pull gently. Wash the knobs in soap and water or a vinegar and hot water solution.

Before removing the knobs for cleaning, please note that the knobs are in the OFF position. When replacing the knobs, check the OFF position to ensure proper placement.

Do not bend knobs by pulling them up or down or by hanging a towel or other such loads. This can damage the shaft.

To replace:

Check the back of the knob.

The molded rib of the knob is designed to fit perfectly onto the knob stem.

Align the molded rib to the clear groove in the knob stem. Push the knob back as far as it will go.

Cleaning and Care

Control Panel

It???s a good idea to wipe the control panel after each use of the oven. Use a damp cloth to clean or rinse. For cleaning, use mild soap and water or a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. For rinsing, use clean water. Polish dry with a soft cloth.

Do not use abrasive cleansers, strong liquid cleaners, plastic scouring pads or oven cleaners on the control panel??? they will damage the finish.

Porcelain Enamel Cooktop

The porcelain enamel finish is sturdy but breakable if misused. This finish is acid- resistant. However, any acidic foods spilled (such as fruit juices, tomato or vinegar) should not be permitted to remain on the finish.

If acids spill on the cooktop while it is hot, use a dry paper towel or cloth to wipe it up right away. When the surface has cooled, wash with soap and water. Rinse well.

For other spills such as fat spatterings, wash with soap and water or cleansing powders after the surface has cooled. Rinse well. Polish with a dry cloth.
