Electrical Information

This appliance is intended for household use only. Use on Alternating Current (50/60 hertz) only. For special dual voltage dryers, see ???Additional Information.??? For 1800 Watt models: Use of this dryer on the same cir- cuit or fuse with other electrical products or appliances may trip a 15 amp circuit breaker or blow a 15 amp fuse. NEVER replace the fuse with one rated higher than the capacity of the circuit. Doing so could result in an electrical fire.

What to do if hair dryer accidentally falls in water:

???Be sure to unplug the hair dryer from outlet.

???Remove from water. Return the dryer to a service center. DO NOT USE the hair dryer after it has fallen in the water until it has been serviced.

Drying Basics

Towel dry hair to remove excess water. Section hair. Using the dryer along with your styling brush, direct hot air through a section of hair. To avoid overdrying, do not concentrate heat on one section for any length of time. Keep dryer moving as you style. Direct air flow at hair not scalp.

For quick touch ups, dampen hair with a mist of water before styling with the dryer. When using your dryer to create curls and waves, dry hair almost com- pletely on a warmer temperature setting, then finish styling with cooler air. Use the concentrator attachment when you need drying power in a small area (such as a curl or a wave) or when you want to relax curly hair.

Body & volume ??? For extra volume, bend head upside down while drying. Position the air flow toward the roots for maxi- mum lift. When hair is dry, toss head back and brush hair into place.

Straightening ??? Work with hair in sec- tions. Using a large 2" (5 cm) round brush, hold hair taut in each section and bend ends slightly under as you dry.

Making waves ??? Tousled, natural look- ing waves are easily created by grasp- ing hair at the roots and scrunching between fingertips while drying,

Cool shot ??? (Model HD400) After styling with hot or warm air, press the Cool Shot Button. It shuts off the power to the heating element and allows cool air to be pushed through the fan.

For dual-voltage dryers (Model HD300):

For use in 120V countries, the Dual Voltage Selector should be placed in the 120V position. For use in several countries overseas, you may need to place the volt- age selector in the 230V position. Confirm the voltage available at each overseas location before using the appliance.

For 100-120 Volt Operation - Using a coin or screwdriver, turn the Dual Voltage Selector to the 120V position (A). In this position, the dryer operates in all available heat and speed settings.

For 220-250 Volt

Operation - Use a coin or screwdriver to turn the Dual Voltage Selector to the 230V position. Do not

Aattempt to change to 120V when operating

on 230V. A plug adapter may be neces- sary in certain countries.

For proper operating performance, the dryer must be kept clean. Blocked or clogged air intake vents will cause the dryer to overheat. If overheating occurs, an automatic safety device will shut the dryer or heat off to prevent damage or personal injury. If the unit or the heat cycles off, unplug the cord and allow the dryer to cool for 10 to 15 minutes before restarting. Be sure air vents are clean.

When cleaning is needed, unplug, and clean dust and lint from air intake open- ings with a small brush. The outer sur- face of the dryer should be wiped clean with a damp cloth only.

For models with a removable filter

Caution - NEVER allow the power supply cord to be pulled, twisted, or severely bent. Never wrap the cord tightly around the dryer. Damage will occur at the high flex point of entry into the dryer, causing it to rupture and short. Inspect the cord frequently for damage. Stop use immediately if damage is visible or unit stops or operates intermittently. If the cord or dryer is damaged or does not operate properly, return it to an autho- rized service center for repair. Do not attempted to repair the unit.

Storage - When not in use, your dryer should be disconnected and stored in a safe, dry location, out of reach of chil- dren. Do not wrap line cord around dryer. Allow the cord to hang or lie loose and straight at the point of entry into the dryer. For easy storage, hang the unit from its built-in storage loop.

Service, if necessary, must be performed by a Black & Decker Household Appliance Company-Owned or Authorized Service Center. The Service Center nearest you can usually be found in the enclosed Service Center Insert.

Full Two-Year Warranty

Black & Decker warrants this product against any defects that are due to faulty material or workmanship for a two-year period after the original date of consumer purchase. This warranty does not include damage to the product resulting from

accident, misuse or repairs performed by non-authorized repair shops. If the product should become defective within the war- ranty period, we will repair it or elect to replace it free of charge. Consejos b??sico

Para evitar que el cabello se reseque, no concentre el calor en una sola secci??n a la vez. Mantenga el secador en movimiento mientras estila el cabello. Dirija el aire hacia el cabello y no el cr??neo.

Para retocar r??pidamente, humedezca el cabello un poco antes de estilar con el secador. Cuando use el secador para for- mar rizos o para ondular, seque el cabello casi por completo a una temperatura m??s caliente y finalice el estilado a una tempe- ratura fr??a. Use el concentrador cuando necesite m??s potencia de aire en una area peque??a (tal como un rizo o una onda) o cuando desee alisar el cabello rizado.

Cuerpo y volumen - Para obtener m??s volu- men, incline la cabeza hacia abajo mientras seca su cabello. Permita que el aire seque bien la ra??ces para alzar el peinado. Una vez seco el cabello, levante la cabeza para peinarse.

Para alisar - Divida el cabello en secciones. Usando un cepillo redondo de 5 cm (2???), estire el cabello sec??ndolo en secciones y enrollando las puntas a medida que lo va secando.
